Follow these steps to safely remove and replace the extruder front cover assembly, including the cutter.
Step 1: Remove the Top Cover
Carefully lift and remove the glass top cover of the machine. This makes it easier to access internal components.
Step 2: Remove the Hotend Cover
Gently pull the hotend cover diagonally upwards by hand. This cover is magnetically attached and does not use screws.
Step 3: Remove the Right-Side Fixing Screw
Move the hotend to the far left of the X-axis. Using an L-shaped hex wrench, unscrew the fixing screw located on the right side of the extruder.
Step 4: Disconnect the PTFE Tube
Press down on the collar of the pneumatic connector and pull out the PTFE tube from the extruder.
Step 5: Remove the Front Screws
Use a hex wrench to remove the two fixing screws located on the front of the extruder. Then remove the entire front cover assembly.
Step 6: Replace the Front Cover and Cutter
Take the cutter out of the old front cover assembly and install it into the new one. Ensure the cutter is installed in the correct orientation. Refer to the guide Replace K2 Plus Cutter if needed. Once the cutter is in place, attach the new extruder front cover to the machine.
Step 7: Reinstall the Fixing Screws
Reinstall the two front screws on the new front cover. Then reinstall the single fixing screw on the right side.
Step 8: Reconnect the PTFE Tube
While holding down the pneumatic connector’s collar, insert the PTFE tube until it is fully seated.
Step 9: Refit the Hotend Cover
Carefully place the hotend cover back over the assembly. It should attach magnetically without needing screws. Our suggestion to re-run calibration again.
