How to replace Creality K2 Plus Hotend

Replacing the hotend on your Creality K2 Plus is a common maintenance task, whether you're addressing issues like error codes TE2509 or TE2515, clearing a stubborn clog, or upgrading for different printing requirements . The K2 Plus utilises a 100W ceramic heater for high performance, and the procedure involves disconnecting the heating and thermistor terminals . This guide provides a clear, step-by-step walk through to safely remove the old hotend and install a new one, with essential tips for avoiding common wiring mistakes.

  1. H2.0 hexagonal wrench
  2. New hotend

 

 Steps

 

  1. Lower the platform to the middle of the printer and below, leaving space for operation.

  1. Remove the extruder magnetic outer cover.

  1. Set the nozzle temperature to 0℃ and wait for the nozzle to cool down to below 50℃ to avoid hurting yourself. [Stop heating].

  1. Power off  the printer and unplug the power cord.

  2. Unplug the thermistor terminal.

  1. Unplug the heating terminal.

  1. Use a wrench to unscrew the four M3 screws on the hotend.

  1. Remove the old hotend.

  1. Take out the new hotend and tighten the four M3 screws on it with a wrench.

  1. Plug in the heating terminal.

Unable to obtain nozzle temperature, the thermistor may be disconnectedPossible reasons: 1. If the thermal cable to the hot end is faulty, check the thermal cable and reinsert it;    2. The hot end thermal is internally damaged. Replace the thermal or hot end.

Nozzle temperature exceeds limit, thermistor may be short-circuited

Possible reasons: 1. There is a problem with the thermal wiring at the hot end. The thermal wire is broken, leading to short-circuited. After troubleshooting, some wires can be repaired to see if it is restored.

 

 2. The hot end thermal is internally damaged. Replace the thermal or hot end.

The nozzle is not heating as expectedThis is a comprehensive error report, please check hot bed thermal and hot bed heater related error troubleshooting methods.

The nozzle temperature is below the minimum extrusion temperature

Possible reasons:

 

1. The extrusion temperature is lower than the minimum temperature set by the machine configuration, and the minimum extrusion temperature limit of Creality OS is 170 degrees; For slicing problems, please use the official slicing software or contact us to get the slicing file provided by the official third-party;  

 

2. If the hot end is damaged, check other heating error solutions to the hot end.
