Triangle Labs All Metal Extruder Gear for K1

The all-metal design of the Triangle Labs Metal Extruder for the K1 requires lubrication to minimise friction and wear on the extruder drive teeth. Using grease will help ensure smoother operation and reliability.

[Cleaning/Maintenance]

  1. Place the double gear, drive gears and needle bearings in a small container and fill up with IPA.
  2. Let the parts soak for about 10 minutes.
  3. Wipe off excess grease and solvent. Brush the rest away
  4. Apply a generous amount of grease to the extruder gear. Avoid the filament teeth.
  5. Apply grease to the inside of the double gear.
  6. Re-assembly the extruder

Every 6 months, or sooner if you have a higher than 15h per week average usage, perform the following maintenance operations:
1. With a tooth brush and alcohol:
a. Clean the double gear and the drive gears
b. Clean the needle bearings


2. With a fine brush and lubricant
a. Lubricate the needle bearings
3. With compressed air
a. Blow the housing plastic parts to remove dust and dirt particles
