Belt Tension Guide

Created by DREMC STORE, Modified on Sat, 15 Nov at 4:50 PM by DREMC STORE

This is more universal guide, to finding the correct belt tension to improve reliability and longevity of the your GT2 belts for 3D Printers. As the tension will vary depending belt/manufacturers and specific to your setup such as belt length/motor and speed you will be printing at. It also largely depending on which tool you use to measure the tension, the actual value may vary.

Our suggestion to ensure belt are tension correctly to avoid wear and print quality defects, as too tight may reduce and increase risk of snapping belt or parts that secure belts into place or even in some cases over tension can damaged motor/pulley shafts.

Similar, new belts can take a couple print to settle in, usually one belt is installed and after a couple good prints, our suggest to double if belts have loosen slightly, if so make some small adjustable again. Re-run any calibration wizard or manual belt tuning to ensure consistent especially in core x/y belt/printer.
